What is private wine curation?
Private wine curation is a service that consists of selecting, sourcing and delivering wines chosen specifically for an occasion, a stay or a person. It is not an online wine subscription. It is a service built around a conversation: your villa, your dates, your guests, your meals, your preferences and those of your companions.
In Burgundy, this service makes particular sense because the region is simultaneously the most coveted and the least accessible outside of local networks. The finest wines are not available online. They are found at the domaines, with the winemakers, often through a relationship of trust built over time.
How does a bespoke selection work?
Everything begins with a conversation. We ask simple questions: how many people, how many days, what kind of meals, what preferences — reds with elegance or mineral whites, younger wines or bottles with a few years of cellaring. From this information, we build a coherent selection.
Every bottle is chosen to be opened, not stored. We do not deliver cases of anonymous wines. We deliver bottles with a story — the vintage, the winemaker, why this bottle for this moment. A tasting note accompanies each wine.
Burgundy red or Burgundy white?
This question comes up often. The honest answer is: both, but in the right order. For a week-long stay, a balanced selection might include two or three whites from the Côte de Beaune for lunches and starters, and three or four reds from the Côte de Nuits for dinners.
The Côte de Nuits produces the most complex Pinot Noirs in the world: Gevrey-Chambertin for structure and depth, Chambolle-Musigny for elegance and fragrance, Vosne-Romanée for silkiness and length. These wines pair beautifully with the seasonal cooking found in the finest Burgundy properties.
Why work with a wine curator rather than a shop?
The best answer is access. A Burgundy-based wine curator can source bottles unavailable in any shop or online marketplace. The most sought-after domaines allocate their production to long-standing clients, starred restaurants and a handful of selective importers.
A local curator is someone the winemakers know. This relationship translates directly into access to bottles that make a private stay in Burgundy truly exceptional — wines you will not find elsewhere, opened at the right moment, with the right people.
